Inspecting storm-damaged shingles on residential roof
Wind, hail and fallen-tree roof damage

Storm Damage Repair in Orange County, NY.

After a nor’easter, summer thunderstorm or ice storm, we document the damage to your roof, siding and gutters, secure the house, and repair or replace what the storm took out. We photograph everything the way insurance adjusters need it and can meet the adjuster on site so nothing gets missed in the claim.

STORM DAMAGE TYPES

Every storm leaves a different kind of damage

Wind, hail and falling limbs damage roofs in different ways, and insurers look at each one differently. We identify which one you have and document it accordingly.

01
Most Common

Wind Damage

Shingles torn off, creased or lifted along ridges, rakes and eaves after high winds — often more than you can see from the ground.

—Creased and unsealed shingles found and marked—Missing ridge cap and starter rows replaced—Siding panels and gutters re-secured
02
Hard to Spot

Hail Damage

Bruised shingles, knocked-off granules and dented vents, gutters and siding that shorten the life of the roof even if it is not leaking yet.

—Test squares marked and photographed—Soft metals checked for impact dents—Damage summarized for the insurance claim
03
Urgent

Fallen Tree & Limb Damage

Punctured decking, broken rafters and crushed gutters after a tree or large limb comes down on the house.

—Opening secured and tarped—Decking and framing repaired—Roof, gutters and siding restored to match
EARLY WARNING

things to consider

01
Warning 01

Shingles or Granules in the Yard

Pieces of shingle or piles of granules after a storm mean the roof surface has been damaged.

02
Warning 02

Dented Gutters or Vents

If hail dented soft metal, it likely bruised the shingles too.

03
Warning 03

New Water Stains

A stain that appears after a storm means water is already getting past the roof.

04
Warning 04

Loose or Missing Siding

Wind that pulled siding off has usually lifted shingles on the same side of the house.

QUESTIONS

Things people actually ask.

More questions? Call (845) 234-9871 or request an estimate — we don't believe in pressure sales.

Should I call my insurance company or a roofer first?
It helps to have a roofer document the damage first so you know what to report. We inspect, photograph the damage and give you a written scope you can use when you file the claim.
How do I know if hail damaged my roof?
Look for dents in gutters, vents and downspouts. If soft metals are dented, the shingles were probably hit too. We mark test areas on the roof and photograph the bruising for your claim.
Will you meet my insurance adjuster?
Yes. We walk the roof with the adjuster and point out each damaged area so nothing is left out of the claim.
How long do I have to report storm damage?
Every policy is different, but most require you to report damage promptly. Check your policy and call us as soon as you can so the damage is documented while it is fresh.
